Properties and Uses of Crystals in Reflexology

Having chosen to practice crystal reflexology and use crystals as part of a holistic lifestyle, I have been expanding my knowledge and collection of crystals. I’m sharing a few examples of crystals that I use and the properties they provide. I also use many of these crystals in my treatments – I have a growing set of tumble stones, wands, and mushrooms suited to reflexology.

Quartz geode pieces in wicker basket

Clear quartz is a clear stone used for general healing and amplifying energy, while snow quartz is a white stone that can be used in place of clear quartz for a gentler effect. Snow quartz can be placed under the solar plexus area during a crystal reflexology treatment to promote feelings of peace and calm. Snow quartz is associated with the crown chakra.

Amethyst is a purple stone with strong healing properties which relates to the crown and third eye chakras. Place amethyst under your pillow or on your bedside table to treat insomnia and promote restful sleep. My children have learnt to cleanse and then tune their amethyst to help them sleep and each keep a piece in their pillowcase. Amethyst is also used to enhance intuition and psychic abilities.

Blue lace agate tumblestones in white box

Blue lace agate is a pale blue stone with white and dark blue markings. It is associated with the throat chakra and is especially good for healing this area. Blue lace agate has a calming effect and can be used to reduce anger.

Rose quartz is a pink stone which is strongly associated with love. Place rose quartz around your house to encourage a loving family atmosphere. It is also used for emotional healing, hope and to promote calmness. In crystal reflexology treatments, it can be placed under the heart to balance the emotions. Rose quartz relates to the root and heart chakras.

Large citrine geode on shelf

Citrine is a warming yellow to brown stone which doesn’t need to be cleansed. Place citrine in the wealth corner of your home to attract wealth and prosperity as it is associated with abundance. It is also believed to help with menstrual problems and menopause symptoms. Citrine relates to the solar plexus chakra.

Carnelian varies in colour from red to orange to brown. Keep this high energy stone close by to stimulate creativity and improve concentration. I often wear a carnelian bracelet to increase my energy levels and motivate me. Carnelian relates to the sacral chakra.

Haematite tumblestones in white box

Haematite is grey or red, but shiny when polished. It has grounding and protective properties so is often placed under the reflexology chair during crystal reflexology treatments if someone is feeling particularly stressed or overwhelmed. Use haematite to help encourage the absorption of iron if suffering with anaemia – it can be bought as a ring to be worn. Haematite relates to the root chakra.

Black tourmaline is a grounding stone, so I keep a tumblestone with me during treatments. It is believed to protect against negative energy and draw it from the body, as well as encourage positivity. Carry black tourmaline with you or place it nearby to protect you from negative energy. It relates to the root chakra.

Sunstone tumblestones in white box

Sunstone is associated with optimism and has antidepressant properties – perfect if you need a pick-me-up. Wear this joyful stone during the winter months to alleviate seasonal affective disorder or if you want to show your true self happily. It is also thought to bring luck and good fortune. Whilst browsing Stone Rose Crystals at Stonham Barns, I was drawn to a sunstone wand.

Sodalite is a mottled blue stone which encourages truth and self-acceptance. Wear sodalite for the courage to speak the truth or stand up for yourself. I chose a sodalite crystal wand from KSC Crystals with a family member in mind, as it is also thought to lower blood pressure.

Fluorite comes in a lovely range of colours, including green, blue and purple, and has protective properties. It is believed to help with balance and co-ordination (both physically and mentally). Fluorite is also used to increase concentration and add structure to your life. I was drawn to a fluorite toadstool in Miss Quirky Kicks in Ipswich which I use during crystal reflexology treatments.

Selenite is commonly white but can also be found in orange, blue, brown or green. It is thought to promote clarity of mind and encourage a peaceful atmosphere. As a calming stone, selenite is often used for meditation or spiritual work.

Calcite also comes in a vibrant selection of colours, including orange, red, green and blue. This lively crystal is commonly believed to be able to amplify and cleanse energy, bringing about clarity and balance of the chakras. It may also promote productivity, healing, learning, and awareness.
