Get to know Hollie

Hello, I’m Hollie. I realised recently, that aside from a page about my qualifications, I haven’t really shared much about myself, so here we go…

I’m very family oriented, with three children of my own – two primary school aged and a toddler – plus a step-son. We also have two dogs, just to throw more chaos into the mix! Becoming a Complementary Therapist has enabled me to work around my children’s schedules and spend more time at home with my youngest while he’s little. I’m lucky to have a very supportive husband who has helped me get Holistics with Hollie up and running. As a Graphic Designer, he is behind my branding and website design, allowing me to focus on my therapies.

At the weekends, I can often be found at my allotment with little helpers in tow. I took on my plot a few years ago after trying to pack so many vegetable plants into our garden that my courgette plants burst out of their raised bed. I think it’s important that the children learn about nature and how to grow their own food. Digging and weeding is also a great way to exercise in the fresh air. We try to spend plenty of time outdoors, whether that’s walking the dogs, exploring nature, breakfast on the beach or playing on the park.

When I’m able to find a few minutes spare I like to squeeze in some baking, as I’m gluten intolerant and homemade gluten free cake is so much nicer than the supermarket equivalent. My favourite things to bake are gingerbread men (especially at Christmas to enjoy with a dairy free baileys), salted caramel chocolate cupcakes and cherry flapjack.

I have a weakness for coffee, particularly an oat milk mocha from the Duck and Teapot at Needham Lake, or if I’m feeling indulgent, a latte and a cake from Flourish & Bean in Bramford. My favourite treat to pick up is a salted caramel frappe (with coffee of course) to give my energy levels a boost – without leaving the car if my youngest is sleeping!

Becoming a Complementary Therapist has reignited my passion for learning, and I’m loving all the training courses and related reading. I’m currently practicing and learning more about reiki, having completed a Reiki 1 workshop, and very much looking forward to attending a Reiki 2 workshop later in the year. This will mean I’ll be able to add reiki to my treatment list, which I’m extremely excited about.

So now you know a little more about me, and I hope to get the opportunity to know you during appointments!
