Your Reflexology Treatment Aftercare

After your reflexology treatment, your body will be trying to heal and remove toxins to balance and achieve homeostasis. The following reflexology aftercare advice will support your body in the 24 hours after your treatment:

Eat lightly

Avoid spicy foods and heavy meals following your treatment. These may put a strain on your digestive system and take your body’s focus off healing.

After your treatment, you may experience a healing crisis. While this might sound concerning, it is temporary and is a good sign that your body is trying to eliminate toxins and rebalance.

Symptoms of a healing crisis include:

Your Essential Oils Aroma Reflexology Aftercare

If essential oils have been used as part of your aroma reflexology treatment, you will have been given an aftercare card stating which combination of oils were used, up to three from:

Chamomile, Clary sage, Eucalyptus, Frankincense, Geranium, Grapefruit, Lavender, Lemongrass, Mandarin, Peppermint, Rose, Tea tree.

In addition to the aftercare above, the following advice also applies:

  • Please be aware that on rare occasions reactions to the oils can occur, such as skin reactions, symptoms similar to hay fever, wheezing, nausea and headaches.
  • To minimise the risk of a reaction, please avoid the sun, sunbeds, hot baths and applying perfume for 24 hours after your treatment.
  • Please be aware that hair dyes and tattoos can sensitise the skin and cause a reaction when you wouldn’t usually react.
  • The oils continue to be absorbed for 24 hours so please try and leave them on if possible to maximise the benefits.
  • If you react in any way with these oils, please wash them off gently but thoroughly with soap and water and pat dry. Contact Hollie to let her know you have had a reaction so that she can make a note on your records. If symptoms persist, worsen or last more than 48 hours, please seek medical advice.
